Introduction
Welcome to Mizuho ("the Bank") and our Open Banking Developer Portal and Sandbox. We intend to continuously improve our API services for our Customers, Developers, and interested public, based on feedback we receive. With that in mind, we shall continuously update this Portal and its content in due course.
Mizuho Bank Ltd is a Japanese financial institution, with branches operating in London, Milan, Paris, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt in the EU, and Mizuho Bank Europe (MBE) as a fully incorporated bank with its own branch network in the EU.
Mizuho are a leading global bank, with one of the largest customer bases in Japan, and a global network of financial and business centres. We continue to pride ourselves on our "customer first" principle as a centrepiece in servicing our corporate customers, with the goal of becoming their most trusted bank. The Bank provides an extensive range of corporate lending and deposit-taking activities, as well as leveraged, structured, asset-based, trade and project finance. Although the Bank offers current accounts, it does not provide retail banking services in the EU; such products as savings accounts, personal loans, mortgages and credit cards are not offered by the Bank. The Bank offers its own customers an online banking solution developed and hosted in Japan.
Our Open Banking offering will allow our customers to access their accounts via their chosen Third Party Providers (TPP) e.g. check their Account Balances and Transactions through Account Information Service Providers (AISP), make payments through Payment Initiation Service Providers (PISP) and a Card Based Payments Instrument Issuer (CBPII) can check a customer's account balance.
The Mizuho Open Banking APIs are aligned with the UK Open Banking standards (v3.1 as detailed in the API Products page) and Payment Services Directive 2 (2015/2366): Regulatory Technical Standard (2018/389) from the European Banking Authority. We will revise our offering as and when changes to either standard impact our offering.
